Spaghetti Meat Sauce Recipe

Sharing is caring!

My family has been making pasta sauce since I can remember. But nothing like our friend Marissa. Her recipe got passed down years ago and she gets asked for it all the time. Sadly it’s one of those family recipes she just can’t give out. See our spaghetti meat sauce recipe came over with her mom’s family from Italy.

Don’t worry though she has shared her next best spaghetti meat sauce recipe! She likes to make huge batches of this sauce and put it in mason jars and freeze it so they have some ready for any meal. I think all of us always keep spaghetti noddles … making this a quick and easy weeknight dinner when we are on the go.

It’s easy to pull the sauce out and defrost it in the microwave as you cook the pasta and garlic bread (or skip the garlic bread!) Add in a nice salad and you have an easy dinner. Of course, I’m not scared to admit that on super busy days we will just have the pasta and meat sauce and be done.

Ingredients

1 lb Ground Beef
28 oz Can Crushed Tomatoes
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 Onion finely chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
5-6 oz mushrooms sliced
1/4 Red Bell Pepper
1/4 Yellow Bell Pepper
1 tsp Oregano
2 tsp Basil
1/2 tsp crushed Red pepper flakes

Directions

  1. Brown ground beef in large pan.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  4. Saute onion and garlic until onions are transparent.
  5. Add ground beef and all remaining ingredients.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Bring water to a boil and add pasta noodles.
  8. Cook the recommended amount of time.
  9. Drain pasta.

So tell me what do you use for your spaghetti meat sauce recipe? I personally leave the mushrooms out if I can cause I don’t like them but hubby does! So let me know in the comments below!
