Poppy Seed Ham and Cheese Sliders

These simple and fast poppy seed ham and cheese sliders are perfect to use up all that leftover ham after your holiday gathering! And if you are like me, leftovers are welcome in my house and even the kids don’t complain when we make these!

A terrific thing about this recipe is that it’s a fast and fun meal to have at home, but it also makes a terrific dish to bring to potlucks and picnics – when you are not using leftover ham! This Pyrex baking dish set is perfect for making ham and cheese sliders. You can use the smaller dish if you’re preparing the meal at home and the larger dish if you’re planning to make more for a larger crowd.

Ingredients for Poppy Seed Ham and Cheese Sliders

Instructions for Poppy Seed Ham and Cheese Sliders:

Gather all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 180° C (350° F)

Cut the buns in half and put the lower pieces on an oven-safe dish.

Place one slice of cheese on each lower bun half.

Then layer the slices of ham on top of the cheese slices. Place the remaining cheese slices on top of the ham.

Cover with the top of the buns.

Whisk melted butter with mustard, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Use a basting brush to garnish the top of the buns with the sauce. You can also just pour the sauce over the buns.

Bake in the oven at 180° C (350° F) for about 20 minutes.

Side Dishes and Desserts for Your Ham and Cheese Sliders

  • This rainbow fruit salad is a fun one to make (and you don’t need to add the Rolos or marshmallows if it’s not St. Patricks Day).

  • 4 buns
  • 16 slices of cheese (cheddar or provolone recommended)
  • 8 slices of ham
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Gather all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 180° C (350° F)
  2. Cut the buns in half and put the lower pieces on an oven tray.
  3. Place one slice of cheese on each lower bun half.
  4. Layer the slices of ham on top of the cheese slices. Place the remaining cheese slices on top of the ham.
  5. Cover with the top of the buns.
  6. Whisk melted butter with mustard, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  7. Brush or pour the sauce on top of the buns. Bake in the oven at 180° C (350° F) for about 20 minutes.
