Easy and Delicious Instant Pot Cranberry Sauce

Sharing is caring!

Thanksgiving is almost here, and one thing is for certain–it is NOT Thanksgiving without cranberry sauce.

Now, I know that there are some of you out there who love your cranberry jelly in a can. Personally, I love some good, old fashioned, homemade cranberry sauce. I could eat it on my turkey and then eat it for dessert and then slather it on some biscuits the next morning for breakfast. YUM.

Today we’re bringing you a truly delicious cranberry sauce recipe that tastes just like grandma’s but is (well, almost) as easy as the jelly in a can!

No, really. This recipe actually is almost as no-fuss as opening a can of the gelatinous stuff. This is, in large part, due to our friend the Instant Pot. If you don’t have an Instant Pot, you really should consider it! Maybe consider it a family Christmas gift because it’s going to make your holiday celebrations a million times faster and easier.  We have several Instant Pot recipes on this site because we love how quick and easy it makes cooking. Case in point: this fabulous cranberry

To make the sauce, you simply add your (fresh or frozen) cranberries, water, and sugar to the instant pot and let it cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Allow for a natural release and…that’s it!

If you’d like to experiment with variations, you can add extra ingredients as final garnish or to the Instant Pot while cooking.

Here are some ideas for extra ingredients that would be lovely additions to your cranberry sauce.

  • Orange/lemon zest
  • A little grated ginger
  • Orange juice (instead of water)
  • A pinch of cinnamon

Of course, you can and should experiment with some unique variations!

You can store your cranberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy it with  your Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, in leftover turkey sandwiches, or on scones or biscuits!
