Description

These yummy Chocolate Striped Cookies are not as hard to make as you might think! They look impressive and taste delicious. Make a batch with your kids or grandkids and enjoy them together!

Ingredients

Scale

1/3 cup unsalted butter

1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 teaspoon prepared coffee, strong

2 eggs

¾ cup brown sugar

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon baking powder

2 teaspoons almond extract

1 1/3 cups chopped almonds

5 ounces white chocolate (for stripes)

5 ounces dark chocolate (for stripes)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt 8 ounces of the semi-sweet chocolate in a saucepan with coffee and unsalted butter using the double-boiler method (pan on top of a pan with boiling water).

Beat eggs in a bowl and then whisk in the sugar.

Stir in melted chocolate until mixture is smooth.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then stir it into the chocolate mixture.

Stir in the extract and almonds, and then mix in the remaining semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Form into tablespoon-size balls of dough and place on cookie sheet.

Makes 24 balls.

Bake for 16 minutes and then transfer right away to a wire. Decorate with white chocolate and dark chocolate after melting chocolate and putting it in piping bags to draw stripes across the cookies.
